Getting to St. John
No airport on St. John. Fly into St. Thomas (STT), then take a ferry.
Red Hook Ferry: ~20 minutes to Cruz Bay, runs every hour, $7.50/person each way.
Charlotte Amalie Ferry: ~45 minutes, less frequent, $13/person each way.
Getting around: Safari taxis, rental cars (4WD recommended — very steep hills), or hitchhiking (common and safe on St. John).
National Park: Two-thirds of the island is Virgin Islands National Park. Most NPS beaches are free — only Trunk Bay charges an entry fee ($5).
